Here is your opportunity to learn more about heart disease! Taught by experts in health and wellness, these eight sessions will empower you to take control of your health.

March 26 – Jessie Duke – Plant-Based Staples and Shopping for a Healthy Diet – Not sure where to start in stocking your kitchen with health-promoting foods? Jessie breaks it down so you know what grocery staples belong on your shopping list and how to navigate your grocery store to find all the good things you need.

April 2 – Lori Manby, Founder of Vegans of Weight Watchers – Weight Loss – Lori Manby, creator of Vegans of Weight Watchers, speaks openly about her food addiction and lifelong battle with Binge Eating Disorder. Lori is successfully maintaining an 80 pound weight loss and empowers countless others to do the same. Her mission is to Support, Motivate, and Inspire by teaching her techniques to those with similar stories struggling to achieve their weight loss goals.

April 9 – Lisa Karlan, PCRM Food For Life Instructor – Three Plant-Based Recipes for Everyday (that even non-cooks can make) – If you attended the open house you had the opportunity to sample some of Lisa’s delicious and healthy recipes. In this session, you’ll learn to batch cook steel-cut oatmeal, make a delicious mostly vegetable-based smoothie, and how to prepare your own oil-free dressings and sauces. You will have the opportunity to sample all three recipes!

April 16 – Patient Forum – To many, a plant-based diet can seem an impossible feat. Meet some of Dr. Shenkman’s patients who will share their stories of what brought them to plant-based eating and how they have continued to eat this way.

April 23 – Dr. Shenkman – Hypertension – A Plant-Based Approach – Learn how an optimal diet and lifestyle, along with medications when appropriate, can optimize your blood pressure and reduce your risk of heart disease

April 30 – Conor Logan, L.Ac. – Acupuncture and Meditation – Acupuncturist Conor Logan will teach you how acupuncture can treat a variety of heart ailments, and about the power of meditation for your physical and emotional wellness.

May 7 – Matt Ruscigno, MPH, RD – A Nutritious Plant-Based Diet –  Matt’s expertise is helping people overcome the barriers you may face when switching to a plant-based diet. From food prepping to simplifying meals to getting all the nutrients you need, Matt will discuss the ins and outs of plant-based nutrition
